"Mother, may I go out dancing?"
When my auntie Sheila Dowsell passed away, her son and daughter-in-law forwarded the letters that my father sent during the war to his parents and sister Sheila in Newport Monmouthshire (now Gwent).
He served on HMS Wheatland in the Merchant Navy when he was in his teens and through during the war.
The black and white photograph is L-R: my father, who sent the letters, my mother Dorothy, their brother-in-law Pat, his wife Sheila my father’s sister, and their parents Minnie and Joe.
