This letter has been kept by my grandmother and my mother. It was sent from Walter, my grandfather, to Bessie, my grandmother.
Walter and Bessie met during the war, when they both enlisted into the Fire Brigade. They subsequently married in 1946.
This letter is from 1942, when he was stationed in Wigan and my grandmother was at home in Horwich.
