Surg Lt Terry Barwell to his wife Pat

I have a large collection of letters my father, Surgeon Lieutenant Terry Barwell, sent home to my mother when he was deployed from about February ’44 until he got home autumn ’45.

Theirs was a beautiful marriage which lasted until my mother’s death at 96. Their letters are very loving.

I’m afraid I do not have the originals as I’m sure I sent them to my brother who no longer has them! Fortunately I photocopied them.

Dad was happy to give a copy of his memoirs to the Royal Navy museum at Portsmouth so since he kept the letters and he has been dead since 2012 I do not think he would have minded if I shared them.

If you do want to see them I could bring them and show you some other stuff I have. Six of my uncles were all in uniform, I have artifacts we think you would find interesting from several. My son, too is Surg Cmd RM, so may want to hang on to them but they will never be discarded. You’d probably get them eventually!
