Sgt Hick to Walter Eric Tipping

My Grandad kept this letter in his personal war memories which I had once he passed away. He never mentioned this but it was written by Sgt Hick from his hospital bed in New Southgate London and tells how my Grandad , known as ‘Tip’ saved his life after they got ‘hit’. Although he lost his leg it reads that my Grandad helped him whilst others passed by.

I’m always filled with pride everytime I read it. My Grandad survived the war but likely rarely spoke of it.
