I have a plastic bag of letters that my father sent to my mother during the war. He numbered them and I have found letters up to no 370. I have not read them all but have found them very interesting about what he was doing day or night.
Yesterday quite by chance I read a letter dated 6 May 1945 – exactly 80 years ago.
My father was in the army, in the signals and spent a lot of time on duty. There is a lot of information on how they were moved around and families he met on leave.
I am sending a copy of letter no. 166. My father never talked about the war so I’m learning about it through these letters that I found when he died.
