This was a postcard sent to Bob’s mother from the Hotel Astoria in Vienna on 20 February 1946.
Flight Sgt Bancroft was a radio operator in the RAF and was in Bari during a lay over whilst en route from Bari via Udine and Budapest to Naples, due to weather. He stayed in Room 130. They were attached to 512 Squadron and was on the first lift to Bari.
He trained in No.1 Air Crew wing, No 2 Radio School, X27 Unit class D.
I found this whilst going through old paperwork to work on the family tree. There’s more written information recorded from around this time but as notes in a loose leaf book and telegrams.
