Eric Robinson to his girlfriend Georgeanna Kelly, later Robinson

This is a lettercard from my uncle Eric serving with the 1st London Irish Rifles. It was sent at Christmas 1944 to his girlfriend Georgeanna, later his wife.

My uncle would have been in Italy when it was sent. My aunt lived in Richmond, Surrey

After the printed “Greetings from ” he wrote “Eric, Happy Xmas, Blondie” – there wasn’t room on the card to write more. His battalion fought in the Italian Campaign and what they experienced stayed with him – he visited some of the areas later in life. The lettercard was sent during what must have been a hard time.

He was a musician (drummer) after the war with his own band which he called The Eric Raeburn band.

I found the card along with some photos in my Dad’s things after Dad died. My Dad was a sailor on HMS Indefatigable during the war.
