Edward Richard Parker to Emily ‘Ciss’ Mary Birtles
Sent by: Edward Richard Parker
Sent to: Emily Mary Birtles
Sent from: West African Forces in Ghana
Date of letter: 3 January 1943
These letters are from Ted (Edward) to his sister Emily (Ciss) in London. They were given to me by Emily’s daughter (his niece).
The first letter (3rd January) tells her about being in hospital in Ghana. He ask after his children and acknowledged he’d received a letter from one of his nephews.
The second (15th January) describes how Ted was assigned to his unit (after a hospital stay) but they had moved some 300 miles along the coast (of Ghana?) but when he got to his new station he had lots of letters waiting for him.
