This letter was sent from North Africa by Charles Leonard Wheatley (‘Len’, Tpr Wheatley) to his aunt, Mrs Minnie Alice Innes (my grandmother). She lived in Clevedon, Somerset. Len’s family lived in London.
The letter was amongst my late mother’s papers and I have kept it as part of my family history research. Len was referring to Uncle Jack (my maternal grandfather) and Jean (my mother). The letter refers to them getting together for a booze up. Sadly, I discovered that Len was killed 4 days after he wrote the letter.
