Arthur (1913-1972) served in the RAF in Italy. Vera (1918-2020) was his sister. They had a close relationship.
They both lived in North Shields, Northumberland, during their childhood, but Vera moved down to London in 1961, with her husband, Leslie Fitton (1925-2023). Arthur was an amateur footballer for North Shields FC.
My paternal side of the family have always kept documents of all kinds, from postcards, to letters informing them of redundancy. Because of this I have a long historical record of my grandparents.
These letters were written by Arthur in 1944 whilst he was stationed in Italy. I have also attached the accompanying photo that Arthur also sent his sister.
