"Well, this is it, dearest, and yet I somehow don’t feel just so excited as I did last night. We haven’t done anything very special today."
Letters were discovered among my mum’s belongings after her passing.
My dad was in the Royal Navy and was stationed in Lyness Orkney throughout the Second World War.
She wrote the letters to him. The first written on the day before VE Day 7 May 1945, this one, the second on VE Day which gives descriptions of Glasgow at the time, and a third written the next day 9 May.
