A poem by Leslie Goacher and his friend

My mother found it after he died, inside an old wallet. He died in 2010.

My father was born 15.8.1924 in Balcombe, Sussex. He trained to be a Morse code operator on HMS Belfast.

I have a wonderful scrapbook of his time serving in the Navy and his time in South Africa.

This is a poem written by him and a friend in 1944 whilst serving in the Royal Navy and based in Durban.
