"Christmas Greetings 1942: It's in the bag"
Whilst doing family history research, I found my Mother’s wooden box that held her important papers and documents which were taken into the shelter for safety. In here I found a few celluloid letters approx 6 inches by 3 inches and were obviously photos of a written letter from my Uncle in the Far East to my Mum who was in Lostwithiel, Cornwall. I believe they were called airgraphs.
Also a Christmas Card same type sent 1941 saying 1942 was in the bag with a caricature of Monty and Churchill. If only it had turned out to be true.

Dear Syb,
Many thanks for another airgraph I have received today, and so glad to hear you and Keith are going on alright, also that the two [unclear] like school, I bet they both love playing about with the blacksmith don't they? I have had a couple of airgraphs from Joan and she has told me that [unclear] is bucking up, its surprising isn't it, still I'm glad she is. I think it would be best of you to stay where you are, if you can Syb, it is quieter there isn't it, and S said that Notm. still gets an occasional surprise one. Well cheerio again, take care of yourself, Regards to [unclear] and love to [unclear], Barb, Keith and yourself. Keep smiling & won't be long now. Cheerio, Ron xxxxxx

Dear Syb,
Many thanks for your letter card I have received today and pleased to hear yourself, [unclear] and the family are still keeping in good health. I have heard from Roy, he sent me a photo of Maggie and the baby, not bad is it. I have also had an air graph from Pam, perhaps where she is now will straighten her out a bit. Well Syb everything is still going on as usual here, it has got very cold though, I was expecting to go on some well earned leave soon, but it looks like we have had it, and I don't think there will be any need to [unclear] for a while Syb, you know our luck. So glad to hear [unclear] and [unclear] are getting on well as school and Keith is getting about now. Please give them all my love.
Well cheerio again. Remember me to [unclear] and a big kiss to the babies, lots of love and take care of yourself Syb. Cheerio. Ron xxxxx
