"Are you still keeping up your dancing lessons? I hope you'll soon be teaching me the latest steps"
These letters are from my father to my mother before they got married and whilst he was in the Army (R.A.S.C).
He was captured in June 1941 at the battle of Tobruk. He was one of the desert rats and was captured and held a prisoner in Germany from June 1941 till end of WW2.
They marched them on foot from Germany to Italy then moved back to Germany.

[Letter]
My own darling Shirley. Hoping this letter finds you merry and bright and still keeping good for me. I think the biggest half of your wait is over Dear so keep your fingers crossed. I'm glad you have had a letter from me. I only hope they keep coming. Florrie wrote and told me that they had received quite a few cards from me over the Christmas so it looks as thought things are looking up. By the way she tells me all the latest scandels about the newly-weds etc so look out and keep to the straight and narrow or I'll be hearing all about it. Well dear its now Feb and we are looking forward to a bit of fine weather. We've been confined to the hut for quite a while owing to bad weather and its making us all pretty lazy I can tell you. Hows thing going with you Darling. Are you still keeping up your dancing lessons I hope you'll soon be teaching me the latest steps. By the way what's your pal like. Do you think she'll like me. Now dont go getting jealous I'm only curious what about Stan though. Thats an idea. Proper match-maker aren't I. Can't do anything about Florrie though I've given her up as a bad job. Well darling must begin to close now so give my love to all your family and as I said before keep your fingers crissed dear. All my very best love your ever loving Tom.
